Tragedy of 40% of Entrepreneurs Unable to Afford a Vacation Pounding Productivity Across America

Studies show that each vacation results in 10 days of peak performance at work when business owners are most rested, relaxed, energized, and engaged. This is when they are most creative, productive and better problem-solvers. And yet, the surveys say 40% of the smallest business owners (aka entrepreneurs with less than $200,000 in revenues) plan for no vacation.

A recent CNN segment entitled: No Vacation Nation, comparing the amount of vacation time Americans get to other countries, confirmed that Americans don’t take vacation and that without that vacation, people get distracted and irritable. CNN referenced the Vigilance Test which verifies an increase in sharpness (in on the job performance) by 25% after a person takes a vacation.

Entrepreneurs either won’t let go or don’t know how to let go. Often it’s their business model that keeps them a prisoner of the business.
