By: Everest Institute "It is exciting to add the pharmacy technician program to our campus as it fills an important need in our community by providing equipped and customer service oriented professionals," Pharmacy Technician Program The pharmacy technician program (http://pharmacytechnician.everestcollege.edu/ Everest Institute’s Commitment to Pharmacies According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for pharmacy technicians is expected to grow 25 percent in the 2008-18 decade. Pharmacy technicians play a major role in pharmacy operations and in the overall health care work force. As pharmacy services continue to expand, with new services being offered, new drugs entering the market, and comprehensive drug information becoming a necessity, the need for highly trained pharmacy technicians is expected to increase. Many of the traditional pharmacy functions, once performed by pharmacists, are now being performed by pharmacy technicians. Today’s pharmacy technician has assumed a position, which supports and enhances the progressive direction taken by pharmacies. The technician has also become the key person in assuring the smooth, uninterrupted functioning of traditional pharmacy services. Pharmacy is a dynamic field requiring an ongoing learning process.
