Visit Sheffield Yoga Centre for a Magical Night of Indian Delights

June 7, 2011 - PRLog -- When local businesswoman and Yoga Teacher Frances Homewood, Director of Sheffield Yoga Centre, was travelling in India 20 years ago she came across an inspirational group of doctors providing free medical care to the pavement dwellers of Calcutta.

The doctors were part of a charity’s medical team, and were running a number of much-needed street clinics in this deprived area of India. Moved to become a volunteer in one of these street clinics, she has since become a lifelong supporter of the charity - Calcutta Rescue.

On Saturday 11th June in aid of this inspirational charity, Sheffield Yoga Centre will host a celebration of Indian culture and tradition with outstanding performances of Puppetry, Music and Dance. Audience members will be transported to a Maharajah’s court where they will see magicians perform amazing feats in the form of Diana Bayliss’ acclaimed Kathputli Puppet Show; and after some delicious homemade snacks they will be treated to the enchanting spectacle of Vrata Chigateri’s classical Kuchipudi Dancing.

The Centre is inviting members of the public of all ages to buy tickets for this event, with all proceeds going to Calcutta Rescue. Calcutta Rescue provides free medical care to 1000 patients per day who are among the poorest members of India’s disempowered population.
