Former Mr. Universe does not want to fight Michelle Obama over MyPlate

June 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Denville, NJ--Although he’s never shied away from a fight before, former two-time Mr. Universe, Avtar Nordine Zouareg, doesn’t want to pick a fight with Michelle Obama or the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He knows the newly launched nutrition guide, called MyPlate, is a well-meaning attempt to reduce obesity. It’s just that 30 years of experience with thousands of clients have shown him that external solutions won’t solve internal problems like obesity over time.

“MyPlate makes good nutritional sense,” said the world-renowned 48-year-old fitness coach and wellness guide. “It does a much better job helping kids achieve optimum nutrition than the former Food Pyramid. But until doctors, nutritionists and weight loss professionals deal with the internal causes of obesity, emotions that affect behavior, they will never achieve long-term results.”

Avtar Nordine Zouareg, who goes by the singular name, Avtar, knows a thing or two about life and death.  He practically died at birth; his 15-year-old mother rescued him from a hospital morgue and nursed him back to health. Born 3 months premature, he remained small and sickly and when he enrolled in a French school, his small stature netted almost daily beatings from school bullies who found him an easy target.

Determined to turn his life around, he used exercise and the powers of his mind to transform his small body into a muscle-bound athlete winning the titles Mr. France, Mr. Europe, Mr. World and Mr. Universe. He was the second youngest Mr. Universe.

Avtar has performed his signature “Mind Over Body” wellness program with thousands of clients, including an A-List of celebrities like Oprah, Ellen Degeneres, Barbra Streissand, Whitney Houston, Neil Patrick Harris, Sugar Ray Leonard and Senator John Kerry.  The Algerian-born author and motivational speaker believes most nutritional professionals, dieticians, doctors and coaches just don’t have all the facts when it comes to solving obesity problems long-term.

Avtar’s version of nutritional advice is even easier for kids to follow than MyPlate. He advises kids “to eat 5 colors every day.”

Avtar Nordine Zouareg is one of a handful of fitness coaches and wellness guides who uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (meditation, affirmations and visualizations), the basic foundation of modern Psychology, to achieve long term results for obesity, addiction and other chronic problems.”
