-- Bornholm Kitchen, featuring warmly modern kitchens, islands, vanities and furniture, is a winner in the 2011 KBCULTURE Awards for Kitchen Cabinets. KBCULTURE is a selective review of the products, places and perspectives central to kitchen and bath design. International in scope, it is produced by Leslie Clagett, editor at publications ranging from Arts + Architecture to Kitchens & Baths, she is also the author of The New City Home, among other books.
“The satin finish on these pieces really shows off the wood's grain to its best advantage,” says Leslie Clagett, founder and judge of KBCULTURE. The well-respected blog also noted that, “the detailing of this cabinet line makes it ideal for open-plan kitchens.” Judging along with Leslie Clagett was Merv Kaufman, industry expert and journalist.
The authentic Scandinavian aesthetic of Bornholm Kitchen is inspired by the spirit of Bornholm, a tiny island off the coast of Denmark. Although it is handcrafted in the United States, Bornholm is the ancestral birthplace of New York designer Susan Serra, CKD, CAPS, and daughter Kelly Serra Donovan.
“The beauty of the Bornholm Kitchen design concept is its ability to authentically speak the language of the environment it resides in,” says Susan Serra, president and founder of Bornholm Kitchen. “Bornholm Kitchen doesn’t dictate the style of the room, it’s sophisticated aesthetic seamlessly integrates with your style, your accessories, your life,” continues Serra.
