A combined 350,000 music fans will be in Nashville this week to enjoy both the CMA Music Festival and Bonnaroo which is rock music’s largest music event in Tennessee. The Smokey River Boys have been on MCA Universal for 3 generations and have recorded 9 albums in their legendary Hall Of Fame career.  This song which honors single mothers who are raising children by themselves talks about a single mother having to do all the things that a dad has to do when the dad is no longer present in the home.

Happy Father’s Day Mama is one of the most touching songs you will ever hear on the radio.  There are millions of single moms in the United States who are forced to do all the things that a dad normally would do but in this true song, the dad died when the children were extremely young.  It’s a historic song that is performed by lead singer Robert Metzgar with such deep passion.  It’s difficult to listen to the song without getting extremely emotional as the songwriter’s weave the story of a mom left without anyone to raise a family of boys.  Happy Father’s Day Mama is one of the most played songs from the “O Brother” album that was recorded along with the hit movie “O Brother Where Art Thou” starring George Clooney.

The album features all the big hits from the movie including “Man Of Constant Sorrow, O Brother, Down To The River To Pray, and the smash duet hit “There’s So Much Of Me, That I Owe To You” sung by Kimberly Ann Cook and lead singer for the SRB Robert Metzgar.  Mr. Metzgar not only wrote the majority of the hit songs on the album but the big hit. " Man Of Constant Sorrow" was written by Mr. Metzgar’s father who was a famous banjo player and his mother who is a very famous ASCAP songwriter of some of gospel music’s most sung hymns from the Baptist hymnal.

Asked how he feels to be included on the celebrity Fan Fair edition with stars like Kenny Chesney, Darius Rucker and others, Mr. Metzgar simply gives all the credit to the members of the legendary group who have a long list of hits on the MCA Universal label.  The original SRB were recorded on Warner Brothers for Time-Life Warner and had 3 platinum selling albums featured in major motion pictures.  Since that time, they have recorded hit albums like Dueling Banjos, Best Of Banjo and The 20 Greatest Hits Of Bluegrass with some of the biggest stars in history.
