It features a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 158 horsepower, as well as an electric motor capable of providing an extra 40 horses for a total of 198 horsepower. These power sources are mated to an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (eCVT) and the EPA estimates that the sedan can earn 33 miles per gallon both in the city and on the highway.
Currently, the Altima hybrid is only available in nine states: California, Oregon, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. The hybrid starts at $26,800, but drivers have the option to add Convenience, Premium and Technology packages. Adding any or all of these packages will give drivers features such as a navigation system, a 6.5” VGA color display, or a 9.6GB hard drive for music storage.
