Safety features that are standard on the new 2011 Sorento include dual front advanced airbags, side curtain airbags for the first and second rows, dual front seat-mounted side airbags, four-wheel antilock disc brakes, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control System, Brake Assist System, Electronic Brake Distribution, Hill Assist Control, and Downhill Brake Control.

A backup warning system is standard on EX models but optional on base LX models. Optional on all models is a rearview camera.
