June 4, 2011 - PRLog -- With summer now almost officially upon us there’s lots going on in London this month, from top sporting events and cultural treats to live music. The calendar features details on all the biggest upcoming events and some which are less well-known. Highlights include:

•   The chance to see teams from around the world play Polo in the Park at Hurlingham Park in Fulham (3rd-5th June). While polo is traditionally a sport closely associated with the upper classes, this event takes a slightly more light-hearted and accessible approach.

•   Watching the pomp and pageantry of the Trooping of the Colour on the Horse Guards Parade, in celebration of the Queen’s official birthday on 11th June.

•   Roaming freely through a selection of over 200 usually private gardens throughout London during the Open Garden Squares Weekend (11th-12th June).

•   Having a flutter and a glass of Pimms at Royal Ascot, one of the biggest and brightest events on the UK horseracing calendar (14th-18th June). Dressing up is not quite compulsory but it is certainly the norm.

•   Gorging yourself at the Taste of London in Regents Parks (16th- 19th June). A unique culinary event offering gourmet al fresco dining, with over 120 stalls manned by some of London’s top restaurants.

•   Seeing if a Brit can win the world famous Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championship for the first time since 1936. The tournament takes place from 20th June to 3rd July.

•   Rocking out to Bon Jovi, The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Rod Stewart and more at this year’s Hard Rock Calling festival in Hyde Park (24th- 26th June).
