Public Television’s Vme Brings Popular "Cocina" & "Planeta Feroz" to Boynton Beach Mall June 4 & 5
Programs Introduce Latin Style Family Fun to Shoppers through Educational Games for Prizes
Vme Cocina (Cooking), hosted by talented chef Hamlet Garcia, aims to bring a fresh take on cooking and cuisine to the table by serving up unique recipes, innovative techniques, regional flavors and invaluable tips to learn and grow in the kitchen. Garcia will be overseeing an Iron Chef-style competition on June 4 from 1- 5 p.m. The four-hour event will feature various game booths where attendees can test their knowledge of ethnic foods from around the world for prizes. Then, three participants will be randomly chosen from the audience to compete in an Iron Chef-style cooking competition. Each will be given a stove and kitchen prep area as well as a set of ingredients (featuring a secret ingredient) and will have 30 minutes to prepare his/her dish. Three judges will also be chosen from the audience to judge the participants on taste, color, technique and creativity. All participants will receive a prize ranging from $25 to $100 in Simon GiftCards.
Planeta Feroz (Ferocious Planet), hosted by the engaging Alessandra Villegas, will invite shoppers to explore nature and learn about the complexity of the environment and the latest groundbreaking discoveries on June 5 through 20 minute “El Encuentro” (The Encounter) shows at 1:30; 2:30; 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. This live educational event will showcase animal trainers with a variety of creatures including a sloth, boa constrictor, parrot, cockatoo, owl, baby kangaroo, monkey, porcupine, armadillo, frog and others. Children will be able to take pictures with some of the animals. An educational exhibit with 10 different games and prizes will also be available. After visiting each animal station, visitors will receive a passport stamp on their animal passport that can be redeemed for a goody bag.
