Overstock Shoes Online Store, The Shoe Barrel, Announces Soles4Souls Shoe Drive

The shoe drive will also be kicking off the 4th annual “Soles 4 Souls National Barefoot Week 2011”.  This is a week-long series of events that encourage public participation in hundreds of concurrent shoe drives, fun runs & walkathons, retail trade-in events, concerts, and festivals.  The events are to raise awareness around the fact that more than 300 million children and 1.5 billion adults worldwide do not have footwear. “We are not necessarily encouraging Southwest Floridians to go barefoot, unless they are on the beach!  However, we are encouraging them to bring in any gently used shoes they no longer wear, or that they may be tossing out from Spring cleaning,” said Chris Cole, Owner, Foot Solutions Estero.  “The shoes will be donated to Soles 4 Souls, as well as a few local organizations that provide shoes and clothing to those in need right here in Southwest FL .  As a ‘thank you’ for participating in the shoe drive, we are giving a $15 gift certificate towards the purchase of new shoes to anyone who brings in shoes to be donated during the week of June 1st -June 8th.  Shoe donations will also continue to be accepted throughout the year.  Anyone who brings in shoes to be donated will also receive a free digital foot scan and full Pedorthic, balance, and gait analysis.”  

Soles4Souls distributes a new pair of shoes approximately every 7 seconds, and has provided close to 12 million pairs of shoes around the world to date.  Foot Solutions of Estero has collected more than 2,000 pairs of shoes locally, which are distributed to Soles 4 Souls, as well as local charitable organizations including RCMA Headstart and Harvest Time Ministries.
