Community Care College to Start Dental Clinic
Community Care College (CCC) will be starting Dental Directions Clinic, a dental clinic for students and employees, beginning June 2011.
“This is a great opportunity to expand the already amazing education that our dental assisting students receive. It gives them a chance to do what they love while in school,” said Wendy Lemon, dental assisting department head.
The clinic will be a place for students and employees to receive basic dental services at a discounted price. Some services include cleanings, bleaching, radiography, fillings, etc. Additional procedures include teeth whitening, bite guards and emergency care. It will also be a learning area for dental assisting (DA) students at CCC to gain real-world experience through interacting with students, front office procedures and assisting with dental procedures before entering the workforce.
Dental treatment will be provided by a licensed dentist, licensed dental hygienist, experienced dental assistants and current dental assisting students that have completed the recommended courses
The name of the clinic is a play off of the original name of CCC (Dental Directions, Inc.) when it consisted only of a dental assisting program. The college system now includes 3 campuses with 47 programs ranging from dental assisting to welding technology to cosmetology.
