Brand will promote partnership with GECKO 501(c)(3) organization

May 26, 2011, Newmarket, NH – GoLite Footwear announces the GoLite Gecko Trail Series, which kicks off this weekend. Created in partnership with Trail Runner magazine, the series includes eight trail events in four states: Colorado, North Carolina, California, and New Hampshire. The series offers all levels of challenge, allowing runners from recreational to elite to participate.  

The first event is the Rock2Rock Run on May 27, in Black Mountain, NC.  This race kicks off the Asheville Mountain Sports Festival which runs through the holiday weekend.  GoLite Gecko Trail Series events will continue through the summer and wrap up on October 22 with the Vulcan’s Fury Race in Nottingham, NH.

GoLite Footwear has expanded their current partnership with GECKO by authorizing them to sell select styles on their website.  All shoes with the Sticky Gecko sole sold through GECKO will generate incremental funds for GECKO youth scholarships to help “Give Every Child Knowledge of the Outdoors.”

GoLite Footwear announced their partnership with Colorado based non-profit, GECKO in January of this year.  “We believe that getting kids back outdoors is critical. And by partnering with GECKO, we’re helping them provide scholarships to organizations like NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School). This is a great way to ensure meaningful outdoor experiences for youth and nurture tomorrow’s outdoor leaders,” said company President, Scott Briggs.

As part of their commitment to GECKO, GoLite Footwear will donate $2 for every pair of shoes with their Sticky Gecko sole shipped to participating retailers in 2011.  Specific styles include the new Tara Lite trail runner and a collection of performance sandals for men and women as well as several new styles from the Fall ’11 collection.
During its first year in 2009, GECKO provided $4K in outdoor scholarships and last year that number grew to $15K.  The goal in 2011 is to raise more than $25K to send children to outdoor leadership programs, where they can feed their passion for the outdoors and inspire their peers to become stewards of the earth.
