“I was inspired after an incident (in Africa) in the early nineties, by which people were poisoned by the water,” Ashman said. “There was a case back in the early nineties when the water supply was poisoned after aluminium was dumped in the reservoir, and then there was the incident of privatisation of the water supply.
I felt burdened by the fact that other countries wouldn’t have access to clean drinking water.
This led me to design a project that would work.
My first design came about in 1990.”
