Irish registrar and hosting provider Blacknight has won an award for their use of social media
May 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Blacknight (http://www.blacknight.com) is well known in the Internet business community for its entertaining, informative and sometimes scandalous Twitter account.
Tweeting early and often has paid off for the Registrar as Blacknight have won the award for Best Business Twitter account for Sales and Marketing at the inaugural Irish Social Media Awards. Held in the Mansion House in Dublin, the Irish Social Media Awards (sister event to the Irish Web Awards), and honors Irish businesses for their use of social media. Internet registrars are not typically known for their social media prowess, but Blacknight is anything but a typical registrar.
Michele Neylon of Blacknight says of the award: “ We are honoured and pleased to have received the award for Best Business Twitter account for Sales and Marketing. We believe that connecting with our customers on a human level is one of the most important aspects of our business and Twitter is currently the best tool to connect and spread information quickly.”
Neylon adds, “As a company, we not only encourage the early adoption of new technology but we eat our own dog food. When it comes to social media it is so important, especially as an Internet business to take advantage of the opportunity to connect with the public. People who don’t get it have teased us, but this award proves that we are right. Businesses who do not use the tools of social media will fall behind.”
For those who are unfamiliar Twitter is a social networking medium on which users post messages no longer than 140 characters (known as “tweeting”)
