Happiness-Happens: 50 States 31 Days of Giving

May 27, 2011 - PRLog -- It's not on most calendars, and Hallmark hasn't created a card as of yet, but August is Happiness Happens Month. And the 8th is the actual day. No kidding.

So what makes you happy? Is it smelling fresh flowers or hearing from a childhood friend? What about an unexpected bonus? These things are great, but for 34 years, nine Mid-South ladies have gotten sheer satisfaction making "happiness-happen" for others. As the Nanas put it, "...it's like stepping into Santa's shoes and delivering gifts to people who really want something, but don't think they'll ever get or deserve anything."

Because August is Happiness Happens Month, for thirty-one days, the ladies decided to expand and cover all 50 states. Some days will have themes: "It's A Man's World" or "Treat Her Like A Lady" with presents specifically for men and women respectively. Gifts include sporting event and concert tickets, gift cards (spa, restaurant, etc.) and of course their scratch-baked cakes and logo merchandise.

Although their “project” had no name at the time, it all started thirty-four years ago. A small group of ladies decided to take a different path and began listening with their hearts by surreptitiously making happiness-happen for strangers in need.
