Donald E. Godwin Named One of Dallas’ Top Lawyers in D Magazine

Godwin, Chairman and CEO of the noted Texas litigation and appellate law firm of Godwin Ronquillo PC, has earned a place on D Magazine’s 2011 listing of “The Best Lawyers in Dallas.” This is the fourth time Mr. Godwin has been recognized by D Magazine for his business litigation work.

“To be considered among the leading lawyers from this city is an honor, as many of the best lawyers I’ve faced in my career have come from Dallas,” says Mr. Godwin. “The Dallas legal community is second to none.”

Mr. Godwin has tried significant jury cases in courts throughout Texas and across the United States for nearly 40 years. His practice covers a broad range of areas with an emphasis on complex litigation. His experience includes cases involving oil and gas matters, environmental law, fiduciary duties, will contests, major family law disputes and business torts. Mr. Godwin currently serves as the lead trial attorney for Halliburton in connection with all litigation and investigations concerning the 2010 BP oil well blowout in the Gulf of Mexico.

To compile the D Magazine listing, the publication sought nominations from Dallas’ leading attorneys, asking them whose work they most admire. An independent blue-ribbon panel of lawyers assisted the magazine’s Executive Editor in finalizing the list. His selection to the “Best Lawyers in Dallas” list is just the latest honor for Mr. Godwin, who has been selected to the Texas Super Lawyers listing each year since 2003. He also has been named as one of the “Top Five DFW Defenders” and one of the top 10 litigators in Dallas-Fort Worth by the Dallas Business Journal. He is a prior recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award for Private Practice from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
