Daystar Driver Blake Koch Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness in Charlotte
Blake Koch goes pink for Charlotte's race in hopes of raising awareness for breast cancer as well as promoting the Daystar Singers & Band’s national album release “Set Free”, that centers around inspiring hope to those that felt like giving up.
PRLog -- NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Blake Koch is showing that real men wear pink as he hits the track at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 28th in the Daystar #81 car that will don a special “race day” pink paint job to raise awareness of breast cancer. This cause is important to Koch as the disease has affected him personally. His mother, Angie Koch, is a breast cancer survivor who recently shared her story for the first time with Daystar’s viewing audience.
In support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and its promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever, the all pink car will race to raise awareness while Blake continues his run for “Rookie of the Year”. According to komen.org, somewhere in the world someone dies of breast cancer every 69 seconds.
“Breast cancer is still a widespread disease. The support we receive from the NASCAR family helps us spread awareness and educate women about the importance of early detection,” says Margo K. Lucero, vice president, business development and partnerships at Susan G. Komen for the Cure. “We’
“When my mom told me she had breast cancer, I was stunned,” explains Koch. “But my family was not going to give up hope. We knew that she could be set free from the physical, emotional and even spiritual bonds of cancer. Our faith in God kept us strong, and the work of Susan G. Komen helped fund the research that saved my mom’s life.”
In conjunction with the event, Daystar Racing will be giving away pink breast cancer awareness bracelets on race day as well as a limited copy of the inspiring single from Joni Lamb and the Daystar Singers and Band entitled “The Journey.” The group has dedicated the single to those battling life-changing illnesses, such as breast cancer, as an encouragement that they are not alone in this fight. The song will appear on the group’s latest project “Set Free,” which will be released nationwide May 31st.
Don’t miss Blake Koch and the special pink Daystar #81 car in Charlotte on May 28th for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Top Gear 300.
