Cowboy And Indian To Join Stevie Wonder, Arcade Fire, Fleet Foxes And 130 Other Bands For 10th Anniversary Austin City Limits Music Festival

"Soul and folk... is there a name for that? Oh right, 'awesomeness.'" - The Traak

AUSTIN, Texas (May 23, 2011) - Cowboy and Indian, a rootsy seven-piece new on the Austin scene will be joining the epic and eclectic line-up at this year's Austin City Limits Music Festival which runs from September 16 to 18. The bill includes an astounding cross-section of musical genres, featuring performances by: Stevie Wonder, Arcade Fire, Coldplay, Kanye West,My Morning Jacket, Fleet Foxes, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Nas & Damian "Jr Gong" Marley, Cee Lo, Bright Eyes, Social Distortion, Empire Of The Sun, Cut Copy, Ray LaMontagne, Santigold, Pretty Lights, TV On The Radio, Skrillex. Big Boi, Randy Newman and many, many more.

Cowboy and Indian, who have earned comparisons to the legendary Carter Family, began when Jazz Mills (T-Bird and the Breaks) got together with Jesse Plemons to write their first song. The collaboration took off and before long, the pair was drawing major buzz at SXSW. Daniel James (frontman of SF based Leopold and His Fiction) soon joined the band to complete the trio. "We came together out of nowhere and were immediately inspired by one another," Mills said.

The band is currently working on their first full-length album, produced by James and due out this spring. They recently recorded their video for "Ledbellies" (featured on taste-maker blog Baybridged.com) while on their cross-country tour, using playful footage captured in Chicago and on the banks of Lake Michigan. The band's song "Trouble Tracks" was recently featured in an episode of the NBC hit series Parenthood.

The Austin City Limits Music Festival began as a modest, two-day event and now, as it enters its 10th year, has become a perennial American music experience. Taking place at the heart of Austin, Texas in the legendary Zilker Park, ACL Festival has grown to 3 days, 8 stages and over 130 bands. With an amazing lineup year-after-year, from hometown heroes to world-class headliners, ACL Festival is where the year's best music experience is created! Apart from the sounds, ACL Festival also offers fun, interactive festival activities, the child-friendly Austin Kiddie Limits and the BEST local offerings of food and art of any music festival in the world! "Though only formed less than a year ago, Mills and Plemons are a natural complement to one another, and we are excited to see what the trio produces when they release their debut recording later in 2011." - Austin Sound

"Everyone in Austin is suddenly talking about Jazz Mills and her Cowboy and Indian project. There's quite a buzz going on, So Indie Sounds felt it needed to get in on the ground floor" .....http://indiesoundsny.typepad.com/indie_sounds_ny/2010/05/...
