City of Gainesville Salutes its Veterans at Memorial Day Parade & Family Festival

May 25, 2011 - PRLog -- A city steeped in tradition, oozing with Southern Charm, and rich in both history and patriotism – Gainesville makes ready to pay homage to the sacrifices made by its veterans on Monday, May 30, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a Memorial Day Parade & Family Festival. The feeling of community will be in large supply as friends, neighbors, and visitors of this North Georgia municipality line historic Green Street up to the Courthouse Square for the time-honored tradition of a Memorial Day parade that begins at 10 a.m. The festivities will continue at Roosevelt Park as the crowds gather for the promise of food and fun at the Family Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kid’s activities include train rides, crazy hair, face painting, inflatables, sand art, and more. Kids of all ages will delight in Arts & Crafts from gifted local artisans and live music from talented local musicians who include Ivan Duke, April Cummings, and True North, among others. As with any Southern summer festival, lemonade will be in large supply. Sponsors of this special event – the Vietnam Veterans Northeast GA Chapter 772 – will be grilling up hamburgers and hot dogs. However, donations are graciously accepted and deeply appreciated by the VVA. Event Organizer Oakwood Occasions will be handing out 1500 additional food vouchers to guests along the parade route.
