Urban League of Essex County Establishes Partnership with Painters and Decorating Contractors of America New Jersey Chapter

Newark, NJ – The PDCA of New Jersey recently completed a workshop titled “Introduction to Residential Painting”. The workshop was designed to provide information on residential versus commercial painting projects, how to prepare an accurate bid for submission and how to present services to a potential customer. Warren Hoffman, President of the New Jersey Chapter stated, “It is important that individuals new to the industry be provided guidance on the standards of the business and the activities that will help them be successful in this field. Connecting them with PDCA also introduces them to a network of painting professional resources.”

PDCA played a integral role in the “Painting Works’ training program launched by the Urban League of Essex County in September 2010. Sixteen students completed a twelve week training program that included obtaining OSHA 10 certification, CPR, and LEAD Safety Practices. These students were provided hands on skills for the painting trade, and employment skills and support. The students also conducted several community service projects in the Fairmont Neighborhood that included the Martin Luther King, Jr. School.

“PDCA is proud to partner with the Urban League of Essex County to continue developing the next generation of professional painters,” stated Warren Hoffman.
