May 23, 2011 - PRLog -- MISS CALIFORNIA LATINA, Cindy Salaues, 23, will be vying for the national title of MISS LATINA US™, precursor to the Miss Latin America® of the World Pageant

Latinas from across the United States will compete at the annual competition held at Barceló Punta Cana, the luxurious beach front resort on the eastern side of the Dominican Republic. Cindy will be shining bright at week-long events scheduled to begin Sunday, May 22.

“It is an honor and privilege, to not only represent California, but to represent every woman who was once doubted, but yet fought for their dreams and reached for the stars” says Cindy Salues. “There is nothing in my way. I have prepared myself mentally, physically, and emotionally for all that is to come.”

Born in Guatemala, Cindy moved to Canyon Country, a district within Santa Clarita located in northwestern Los Angeles along with her family in hopes of the “American Dream” when she was one. Aside from her duties as Miss California Latina, she is also pursuing her nursing degree at College of the Canyon.

As Miss California Latina, Salaues volunteers at various organizations such as the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Safe Passage. She has made valentines cards for under privileged children and helped feed 250 homeless. In Compton, she spoke to an auditorium full of elementary school students about the importance of staying active and encouraged they also follow their dreams. Among the litany of contributions to California, Salaues has plans to plant 500 trees and native plants in San Diego to help in the battle for a green and healthy environment and visit a Mexican orphanage.

“My wish is that, in winning Miss Latina US, I can have the opportunity to do this on a larger scale” says Salaues., who is sponsored by the following Betty Page Clothing, Hot Wax Cosmetics, Infinity Med Spa and U Tan.
