World Vision's HIV AIDS project receives appreciation from Govt

May 22, 2011 - PRLog -- World Vision India’s HIV AIDS project in Guntur was recognized for its commendable achievements in the field of care and support for HIV and AIDS by the Andhra Pradesh State Government. In a celebration held at Guntur Police parade grounds, Mr. Ramanjaneyulu, the District Collector, presented World Vision a certificate and a shield, which was received by Johnson Marlapudi, Programme Officer, Guntur HIV AIDS project.

World Vision’s HIV and AIDS initiative started in Guntur district in 2003 with an emphasis on mitigating the impact of HIV and AIDS through various prevention and care programmes in areas where the prevalence rate was relatively high.

The project provides care and support for people living with HIV AIDS and for orphan and vulnerable children. Thus far the project has identified and supported 2175 people living with HIV AIDS and 2384 children.

The project has a constructive and cordial relationship with district level health authorities. World Vision India is also a member in the District HIV and TB Coordination Committee.
