Selling on eBay: Stephenie Meyer's Handwritten Letter with Envelope

May 21, 2011 - PRLog -- It isn't everyday that Stephenie Meyer writes a hand written letter to one of her fans. She's got too many fans reply to one by one. These days even a signed book of Meyer's costs several hundred dollars online or a long wait in line at one of her rare book signings.

With the Twilight book and movie franchise grossing billions of dollars, Meyer is quickly building a fan base to match J.K. Rowling or Stephen King. Yet, every author had to start somewhere and back in 2005 Meyer's career was just beginning.

The publishing company Little Brown & Co., offered Meyer's first book Twilight to teens and young twenty-somethings in an advance review program. A few ARC copies of Twilight were dispersed to members of this group. In exchange for a review and informing friend's of their opinion, readers got to keep the book and the prestige of knowing they were the first to read a popular emerging novel.

I was one of those lucky few who got to ready Meyer's first novel and like many my age, I saw the promise that this book had to offer. I wanted to tell the author how much I appreciated her work, and so, I did. I mailed a letter to the publishing house and they forwarded the note to Stephenie Meyer.

And unlike the fanfare that exists today, in 2005 Meyer's career was just starting. My letter was probably one of the first she received. In an effort to say thank you, she replied to me with a hand written letter.

I've saved this letter for years and have maintained it in fantastic condition. Its one rare claim to fame to be able to boast a personally addressed, hand written letter by one of the most popular authors of today's times.

Yet, I'm selling this item at auction on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Stephenie-Meyer-Handwritten-Letter-En...

Why? Basically, funds are tight. I'm trying to go back to school, would like to visit my family up north and am planning a move shortly to downsize.

As much as I appreciated Meyer's letter, like many others across the US I am in need. I would hope that this letter sells at auction to a fan of Meyer's work and is appreciated for the pop culture value that it represents.

I am open to questions on this item and will make every attempt to prove the validity of its authenticity.
