May 20, 2011 - PRLog -- After receiving the email that stated that a puppy mill was going out of business, the National Mill Dog Rescue jumped into action.  The problem was that they didn't have the funds to go on the rescue let alone the rehabilitation needed by the new dogs when they arrived at the NMDR kennel.  They reached out via social media to raise the funds to go on the rescue.  They came close enough to their fundraising goal to announce that they would go on the rescue in Missouri.

As fate would call upon them again, NMDR received numerous calls this week from the Kansas Department of Agriculture.  They needed NMDR to rescue over a dozen puppy mill survivors whose days were numbered.  It is hard for NMDR to say no to any dog that needs to be rescued so a stop is being made on the way back from Missouri to pick up these survivors as well.

Early this morning, they reached their destination in Missouri and have started loading the dogs.  The dogs are in bad shape.  They are skinny with bones showing and full of ticks.  The volunteers arrived just in time.  After stopping in Kansas, they hope to be back at Lily's Haven tomorrow.

Fundraising is an ongoing mission.  There is always a need for funds.  Lily's Haven (Kennel 1) with its' full house of survivors waiting for their forever homes, require funds to stay open, provide medical care and food.  In addition, NMDR had to temporarily rent an additional kennel (called Kennel 2) so they could take care of recent bigger breed survivors.

The National Mill Dog Rescue volunteers works tirelessly to give the survivors of puppy mills and commercial breeders a chance for a loving life.   Won't you help them?
