A musical night with the kings of swing

May 20, 2011 - PRLog -- A top night of musical treats is in store next week when a group of students from Coventry University run through the back catalogue of songs from Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé and Robbie Williams to name but a few.

‘A Night With.......’ presented by Clueless Productions is part of the University’s Spectrum performing arts festival and takes place on Wednesday 25 May in the Ellen Terry Building at Coventry University.

The concert will feature classic songs from the big band era performed by a lively and entertaining eight-piece band and a singer.

Fiona Lennox from Clueless Productions said:

“We are all fans of the Big Band sound and for our final year project; we knew that we wanted to produce a concert that paid homage to the kind of music we love to play.
“Big Band and swing has found a renewed popularity thanks to Robbie Williams’ swing albums and the phenomenon that is Michael Bublé and you cannot do a performance without playing something from Ol’ Blue Eyes himself, Frank Sinatra. He was the original swinger and we will be doing a selection of favourites.”

All the proceeds from the evening’s concert will be donated to the Coventry Myton Hospice.
Simon Pickering, who is also from Clueless Productions, added:

“As it is our final year performance, we wanted to create a nice and welcoming atmosphere in keeping with the easy-going music that we will be playing, so we will be providing drinks and small nibbles before and after the show. I hope people will enjoy the evening of music that we’re going to play and those who are not familiar with the Big Band sound just might leave the concert as converts!”

‘A Night With.......’ takes place in Room 101 of the Ellen Terry Building, Coventry University on Wednesday 25 May at 6.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £4 and are available on the door.
