Best Catalan restaurants in Barcelona and Sitges

Catalan restaurants in Barcelona

Via Veneto – this restaurant in Barcelona, whose chef is Carles Tejedo, has been awarded with the Michelin star and many other prizes. It was one of Dali's favourite restaurants. He used to go there and asked for some sausages and put them on his friends heads! It is decorated in modernist style and offers a long list of wines and traditional, delicious Catalan dishes.  
Restaurant Cinc Sentits – this restaurant is in the center of the Eixample and has a Michelin star. Jordi Artal is the chef and offers creative, comtemporary dishes based on Catalan roots. It has top quality service and offers the customer a delicious meal in a minimalist dining room. Its name means “five senses”, so if you go there, you will have a five-senses culinary experience.
Restaurant Casa Calvet – This stylish, classic restaurant is inside the Casa Calvet, designed by Anton Gaudi. Therefore, the ambiance keeps a modernist taste. It offers Catalan and Mediterranean cuisine served in semi-private dining rooms which used to be accounting offices, management and boardrooms.  
7 Portes (7 doors) – this restaurant in Barcelona is located in the “Pòrtics d'en Xifré”, a building which has been declared a national monument, near Port Vell and Via Laietana. It has seven doors which open seven dining rooms of different sizes to celebrate all kinds of events. Besides the friendly staff, the best of this restaurant is the food; real Catalan food cooked to perfection with more than 100 dishes. The speciality is paella parellada. This restaurant has never closed since its opening in 1836.
Can Culleretes – as the Guinness Book of Records says, this is the oldest restaurant in Barcelona and the second in Spain. It was founded in 1786. It has a great location next to the Ramblas and serves excellent traditional Catalan food. The staff is very friendly and prices are not very high.
Els Quatre Gats – this is an emblematic restaurant in Barcelona, which is located in a modernist building designed by Puig I Cadafalch. Its name means “the four cats”, which is an idiom that stands for “ few people”.
It was the meeting place of many artists at the beginning of the last century.  The most famous of them was Pablo Picasso. He gave his first exhibition there and designed the menu.
Manairó – this restaurant, located in the Eixample, has been awarded with a Michelin star. Its chef is Jordi Herrera. It is very near the Sagrada Familia, just a few blocks away. It was named after small fantasy creatures living in the Pyrenees called "los manairóns." The restaurant offers top quality Mediterranean and modern Catalan dishes with fresh seasonal ingredients.

Catalan restaurants in Sitges

Davallada 9 – this restaurant in Sitges is located in wonderful property of Spanish colonial architectural style from 1878.  It has been restored and redecorated but its original features still remain. It's an elegant restaurant where Mediterranean and international cuisine is served.
Al Fresco -  great bar-restaurant in Sitges. Serves tasty Mediterranean food and has a long list of wines. Staff is very friendly. You can book for celebrations, business meals and groups. They make suitable menus depending on the occasion.
La Nansa -  wonderful restaurant in Sitges where you can taste traditional Catalan food. The best dish and most well-known is their rice called “arros a la sitgetana”. The seafood is also really tasty and you can't leave the place without tasting their delicious home-made dessert, such as their magnificent black and white chocolate cake.
