May 13, 2011 - PRLog -- For the second year running, OTHER media client the England and Wales Cricket Board has scooped the 'Best Use of Digital Communications in Sport' at the Sports Industry Awards. Helping the ECB to realise its online and digital ambitions has been ‘a challenging delight’ for the development team at the OTHER media.

The ECB received the Award this week in recognition of the success of its ‘Follow Us’ campaign. This was designed to use the Ashes as a platform to grow the ECB’s database of cricket fans, strengthen the relationship between the fans and the England cricket team and re-enforce Test Match cricket as the pinnacle of the game and the Ashes as a leading brand in world sport.

The ECB partnered with the OTHER media to deliver key new media initiatives that helped it scoop the award for the second consecutive year, including site build and hosting, technical provision and the development of iPhone and Android apps.

Julian Goode, ECB’s new media manager, said today: “the OTHER media has provided the bedrock of our new media services for many years now, as well as the expertise to allow us to expand beyond a traditional web presence.

"The second version of our ECB Cricket app for the iPhone was immensely popular, and our Android app took our content onto yet another platform in time for an iconic Ashes series."

George Crabb, MD of the OTHER media, said: “We are delighted that the ECB’s work in harnessing the digital medium to keep its fans and followers involved in cricket has paid off so well. That this initiative has been acknowledged with such a prestigious award for the second year running is clearly a bonus.

“We are proud to be associated with the ECB and to help it stay ahead of the game in technological terms. We know they have been celebrating the latest award this week at ECB’s HQ – and we have been doing the same at London Bridge. We have more developments in the pipeline with the ECB and hope that when these come to fruition we might even be helping them scoop a Sports Industry Awards hat-trick.”

Having forged its reputation on quality in the digital arena, the OTHER media has numerous prestigious clients – including BAFTA, BBC Worldwide, Paul Smith, Jasper Conran, the Football League, the Rugby Football Union, the Royal Collection shop and the Zoological Society of London. With a team of more than 40 expert developers and designers, the OTHER media specialises in often-complex digital projects ranging from maximising web activity to tailor-made apps for the mobile market. As well as the ECB Cricket app for iPhone and Android, it also developed the Football League app, which topped Apple’s download chart on its release, and the popular Rugby Football Union app for iPhone.

Founded in 1994, the OTHER media is based at London Bridge and is now seen as a cornerstone of the UK’s digital establishment. The three original directors of the company – Jonathan Briggs, George Crabb and Nicholas Oates - are still at the helm, steering its ongoing success more than 16 years later.
