Chivas de Guadalajara are Causing a Sensation!

May 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Chivas de Guadalajara is famously known for being the only Mexican team to have their roster filled with 100% Mexican athletes rather than obtaining foreigners to play for them. They secured their spot in the Mexican League Playoff Semifinals (Torneo Clausura 2011) on Saturday as they managed a 1-1 draw completing a 4-2 collective triumph. They hadn't been in the semifinals since the Apertura 2007 season so this left Guadalajara fans celebrating all weekend and anxious for Thursday's age against the Pumas.

Chivas will stop wearing their Reebok brand uniforms; starting next season, they will be showing off their new Adidas brand uniforms like they used to do between 1989 and 1992. The contract between Chivas and Reebok to make their red and white stripe uniforms was made in 2005, but since Adidas bought Reebok that same year, things inside the company have been changing and Adidas has decided it will be the brand that will be making the new uniforms for the professional sports teams leaving Reebok aside to handle the amateur sports teams.

But the Guadalajara team does not just shake crowds and fill up stadiums; they are also expanding their horizons through the social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. On Tuesday, they became the first team to reach 1 million followers that "liked" them on Facebook (the most important and influential social network at the moment), making them the leading team in sports teams social networks in Mexico and within the top 10 worldwide. This social impact has also caused them to be one of the highest commercial brands in demand in Mexico and even past their frontiers.
