Dorado Equities - High prices spark a New Gold Rush

May 13, 2011 - PRLog -- It has been almost 160 years since the first Alaskan gold rush but, with prices hitting record highs, prospectors are once again flocking to the state's rivers and deserts in search of the precious metals. Gold prices crossed the $1,500 an ounce barrier this month and are continuing to increase. The precious metal's rapid ascent has sent sales of mining claims soaring. "There's been a dramatic change . . . our claim sales have risen five-fold in the last year," said Brian Hartley, Land and Claims manager of Dorado Equities a Texas Land Holding Company.
"This is the second big gold rush," Mr. Hartley said. "We've had a lot of phone calls from -people who are looking for claims to work and buy."
The growth of prospecting by individuals has been accompanied by a sharp increase in commercial mining activity. Commercial claims, most of which involve gold mining, rocketed 200% in the first quarter of this year. This represented an increase from claims in the same period of 2010, according to the Bureau of Land Management.
The Price of price is obviously driving [mining] activity up tremendously, and we have a market imbalance at the moment and there's more demand than supply," indicated Hartley. Land and Claims manager of Dorado Equities a Texas Land Holding Company.  "Gold sits in a little niche because it's speculative . . . People buy it as a hedge for the future."
Membership of the Gold Prospectors Association of America "has tripled in a very short space of time", said Corey Rudolph, an -official at the group, which organizes events for miners.
The focus of special attention in the present gold rush is a strip known as the Gold Belt, or "Tintina Region", which runs through the lower part of Alaska to Canada. Where only about 15% of the area has been mined leaving a large amount to be yet claimed and mined.
