Scientists Discover MRSA on Bedbugs
The IAQ Video Network produces a public outreach video to educate families about the dangers of MRSA.
MRSA is a type of staph bacteria that is resistant to certain antibiotics called beta-lactams. These antibiotics include methicillin and other more common antibiotics such as oxacillin, penicillin, and amoxicillin.
“MRSA infections appear to be on the rise and the correlation to bedbugs is disturbing news,” reported Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates, the company behind the IAQ Video Network. “Most MRSA infections are skin infections, but more severe and potentially life-threatening MRSA infections are believed to be responsible for thousands of deaths each year in the United States. News that bedbugs may be spreading the infections is something the public needs to be aware of as a possible threat to their health,” he continued
Earlier this month the IAQ Video Network released a public outreach videos meant to educate the public about these drug resistant bacteria.
