Ameeraga Thamiz Mandram's International Women's Day centennial in Dubai

Ameeraga Tamil Mandram's (ATM) Women exclusive program held to mark the centennial of International Women's Day took place at the Dubai Women's College in Al Ghusais. Guest of honour was Ms Thamarai, poet, lyricist, writer and journalist.

May 12, 2011 - PRLog -- 'Naalai Namathe' -  Tomorrow is ours - was the theme for the Ameeraga Tamil Mandram's (ATM) Women exclusive program held to mark the centennial of International Women's Day took place at the Dubai Women's College in Al Ghusais. The program was exclusively organised, conducted and participated by women but attended by both men and women.

Guest of honour was Ms Thamarai, poet, lyricist, writer and journalist. She is best known for writing lyrics for Tamil films only in Tamil language, often even in very purest Tamil.

During Mrs.Thamarai's 30 minutes keynote address, she emphasized on the practical difficulties and pragmatic issues of women being independent. Her flawless Tamil and deep rooted care towards women enhancement with versatile outlook was visible during her 30 minutes address. She shared her-self experience how she overcome the difficulties and surviving as one and only women lyricist in the cine field. A.R.Rahman's 'Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya' is her latest hit.

The program took off with Tamil Anthem sung by the women members of the ATM, followed by the Bharathiyar song in a newly composed tune by Renuka's team continued with Mrs.Shyamala Shivkumar's welcome note, dance presenatations from the 'Prasidham' Kavitha team and 'Mother's Breeze' Nivedhitha team. The viewers were spellbound by the flow of the program despite the lack of an exclusive anchor, as the audio visual presentations made the compeering effectively.

Girls performed 'Silambattam' and Sword fight as the self-defense skill one of its unique kind first time in UAE made the audience exclaimed with enthusiasm. The kids were trained by Mr.Haji who is the Tamil Nadu National Award winner in Silambattam.

Reality Shows were not spared either, an exclusive 'Snehamana Snehithiye'-'My dear friend'. Reality Show was done, participated by four teams named after flower demographics, as the women is compared to a flower. The show was anchored by Mrs.Jazeela Riyas the General Secretary of the association and Ms.Benazir. The innovation was well received by the audience.

For the first time in Dubai 25 minutes musical interlude only by women. The keyboardist Ms SriVidhya, 'Veena' by Ms.Nivedhita, Rhythmic drum pads by Ms.Benazir and Violin by Ms.Krishnapriya took the audience onto a musical journey.

Mrs Jaseela Naufal's Special address concentrated on the significance of Women's Day. 'Naalai Namathe' was also the name of the short play, Created by Jazeela Riyas, performed by Ms.Swetha, Ms.Roshini, Ms.Khatheeja and Ms.Ayesha. Another short play like dance drama performed by Mrs.Lakshmi Priya and Mrs.Porselvi Kannan emphasizing the wife's sorrow when husband struggles in army war.

Fashion Show for Kids age under 9 amused  the audience to uproar with the young one's special costumes and toddling Catwalk. Ms.Neha Swaminathan was selected as Ms ATM 2011.

An internal poll was organized by ATM to identify and select the active social workers in UAE. Mrs.Yasmeen Najemudden Sathak was elected thus and awarded "Emirates Best Tamil Women 2011" Ms. Thamarai presented the Award to Mrs.Yasmeen amidst the audience uproar.

Mrs. Wahitha Deen was awarded 'Suvaiyarasi 2011" for her culinary skills. Mrs. Srivani Anandan was awarded 'Kaivinai Kalaingar 2011' for her arts and craft work done using recycled waste materials. Mr.Sheikh Sintha Mathar won the first prize in the Essay competition for the topic 'Necessity of Women's Education' who was awarded by the judging of Mr.Malan a well-known media person from Chennai, Ms.Swathi Swamy a blogger from New York and Mr.Abulkalam Azad writer from Chennai.

The program was graced by the presence of  the Special guests viz Ms. Gandhimathi of Everest Group of Companies, Ms Suthanthira Selvi of Madras Grocery, Ms Enid Martin of Dubai Women’s College of Higher Education.

Ameeraga Thamiz Mandram was started in the year 2000 and is based in Dubai.
