Harper BMI and Local Radio Celebrity Jim. O Present Free Seminar on Lap Band and Weight Management
DMC Harper Bariatric Medicine Institute-Michigan Bariatric Surgery presents a free educational seminar about surgical and non-surgical weight management options – hosted by WCSX’s own Jim O’Brien.
The laparoscopic procedure, sometimes called gastric band surgery or lap band surgery, is the second most frequently performed bariatric procedure, where an adjustable band restricts the amount of food patients can ingest. A laparoscopic procedure can be performed as an outpatient procedure and the patient can typically leave the hospital in less than 24 hours.
Harper BMI’s free weight loss seminar event will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Harper University Hospital (3990 John R., Detroit) in Hospitality Suites 2 & 3, starting at 10:00 a.m. to Noon.
At the seminar, board certified surgeon and medical director of bariatric surgery services for DMC Harper University Hospital, Michael M. Wood, M.D., will present important information on the latest surgical approaches to overcoming obesity and chronic diseases related to obesity. Bariatric surgery options presented will include the Lap Band, gastric sleeve and minimally invasive gastric bypass surgery, as well as the use of robotic technology for the bariatric procedure.
