Powri Midgets And Micros Make First Stop Of The Season At Macon Speedway

May 10, 2011 - PRLog -- (Macon,IL) The 2011 POWRi National Midget and 600cc Micro Sprint Series will thrill fans this weekend at the lightning quick Macon Speedway in Macon, IL on Saturday, May 14.  Three top-four finishes has carried Nick Knepper into the lead of the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series championship. Knepper, of Belleville, leads Dereck King, of Vienna. Brad Kuhn, of Avon, IN, is third, followed by Tim Siner, of Dupo, and Zach Daum, of Pocahontas rounding out the top five.  Knepper was fourth in the POWRi Midget championship in 2010.


Ryan Langston, of Greenfield, IN., leads the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series. Langston won the season opener at Du Quoin. He has a 200-190 advantage over King. Devon Piper, of Springfield, Il., is third with 180, followed by Joe B. Miller, of Millersville, Mo., in fourth with 160 and Kara King, of Vienna, Il., fifth with 150.

The POWRi cars should put on quite a display this Saturday night; as well over 100 cars are expected to battle it out on the super fast 1/5 mile oval.  Saturday night will also be featuring our Billingsley Towing Modified, Touchstone Energy Sportsman, Street Stock and Pro & Amateur Hornet divisions in conjunction with the POWRi sanctioned events.


It will be flag night at the track so the first 300 fans in the gate will receive an American flag to commemorate the event.



Macon Speedway offers fun family entertainment every Saturday night from April to September.  With many fan favorite events on the schedule, including two “Night of NASCAR Stars;” May 30 and Night of Nascar Stars II on June 28.   The famous Herald and Review 100 will be held on July 7 which is UMP’s premier Summer National event, 2011 is stacking up to be a memorable year.  Be sure to come join Macon Speedway for an action packed summer.



Macon Speedway will open their pits at 3:00pm with driver registration from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.  National Midget drivers’ meeting is at 5:15pm with the 600cc Outlaw Micro drivers meeting at 5:30pm.  Hot laps are at 6:00pm with racing at 7:00pm.  Adult general admission tickets are $15 and kids 12 & under are still free.  Pit gate admission will be $30 for the event.

May 21 is the Boy and Girl Scout night at Macon Speedway where all scouts and all children are welcome to attend the annual pinewood derby at 1:00 pm before the races.
