May 10, 2011 - PRLog -- The 2nd Bi-Annual Sip N Shop Soiree took place last month on April 21st bringing women in the community out for a night of pampering, shopping and most of all, highly coveted girl-time.
With more than 30 vendors showcasing and 200 attendees, the night was filled with glitz and glamor including “pamper stations” like hair and makeup, diva photos, wine and chocolate sampling, and tons of shopping!
More than anything it was a great opportunity for local women to come support each other, and support women in our local community that aren’t as lucky. The mission of the shelter is to assist female victims of domestic violence and their children by establishing and maintaining a facility which will provide temporary shelter to these victims “Having a hand in the healing is a gift we can give ourselves when we reach out to help others.” Said the Volunteer Coordinator for the Women’s Shelter.
She went on to say, “The Women’s Shelter would like to thank Beth Ebnet, and all the people who participated in the Sip and Shop Soiree.  Your hard work and generosity are truly appreciated.  On April 21st the Sip and Shop Soiree raised $1,071.00 for the Women’s Shelter.  We wouldn’t be able to help the over 600 women and children each year if it wasn’t for generous contributions such as this. 92% of all our donations go directly into the programs people access. We want to thank you for your continued support. We look forward to giving our very best to those women and children whose lives have been forever changed by domestic violence.”
The next fundraising opportunity for the Women’s Shelter is the “Walk A Mile in Her Shoes” event that will be featured during RochesterFest June 21st.
This event not only supports women at the event by giving them a break from their over abundant task list but to support the women right here in our community that don’t have the resources to always help themselves by donating to the Women’s Shelter. We will continue to make this our focus at future events as well.
