Bearhead Publishing Releases Provocative New Novel by Louisville Area Author

May 18, 2011 - PRLog -- LOUISVILLE, Ky – May 18, 2011 – Bearhead Publishing LLC today announced the May 20 release of The Liberation of Crystal Hill, the first novel by Louisville-based author Kevin Gibson.

The Liberation of Crystal Hill centers around a young protagonist who takes it upon himself to uncover the mystery behind a series of strange occurrences in his small Indiana town. Is the ghost of the town’s Civil War-hero founder out for revenge? Will the young protagonist be able to stem the tide of mysterious death and corruption, and save his family in the process?

“It’s a bit of a coming-of-age story blended with a mystery and a ghost story,” Gibson, a native of southern Indiana, said. “But it is also in many ways allegorical, and explores society’s attitudes regarding religion, politics, death and other themes.”

Gibson, a regular contributor to area publications such as LEO Weekly and Louisville Music News, said the original concept for the book was to create a series of short stories told from the point of view of the same protagonist. The first of the stories, titled “Michael Lamb’s Funeral,” won an award for Best Short Story from the Indiana Collegiate Press Association.

“As I continued writing, however, the characters came alive and subplots formed that tied the stories together in such a way that I realized it had to become a novel,” Gibson said.
