Starbucks of Englewood Presents Inspiring Art Exhibition
Featuring Works Created by Children with Chronic and Life-Threatening Illnesses Art Exhibit Underscores Value of Creative Art Therapies for Helping Children Cope With Illnesses
The Traveling Art Show is a unique mobile art gallery that extends the longevity of Express Yourself exhibitions by taking the art show on the road, making stops at participating hospitals, galleries, schools, libraries and other venues throughout New York and New Jersey. Year-round, the Traveling Art Show showcases the masterpieces produced by Express Yourself participants, transforming hospital lobbies, cafeterias, gift shops and other venues throughout the community into instant mini Express Yourself galleries. In addition to brightening the walls of hospitals and other venues, the Traveling Art Show serves to raise awareness of the importance of the arts in healthcare. The exhibition highlights the value of the creative process as a powerful tool for communication and healing and presents an opportunity for the children to showcase and celebrate their creative achievements. It also stimulates dialogue among healthcare providers, patients, and the larger community and captures the attention of children and families who might benefit from learning more about the ArtWorks program.
ArtWorks presents its Traveling Art Show at Starbucks of Englewood. This show features a collection of works created by children and young adults from dozens of healthcare facilities in the Tri-State area.
ArtWorks is dedicated to the establishment and support of creative and performing art exhibitions, titled Express Yourself, that feature the works of children and young adults suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Siblings, who are also tremendously affected by their own sibling’s illness, also submit artwork into the show. These exhibits recognize the creative arts therapies as an integral component of the recovery process.
Children who suffer from chronic and life-threatening illnesses, and their siblings, created the pieces on display in the Traveling Art Show. These participants come from 30 healthcare agencies in the New York metropolitan area.
