Has Jack White Got Tinnitus?

Rock and Roll legend Jack White suggests he may have tinnitus.

May 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Jack White song, Consoler of the Lonely, has lyrics that have us worried about his hearing. To be honest we are not really surprised because if ever a band deserved to be played on volume setting "Eleven" it is supergroup, The Raconteurs. We just hope that he has worn sufficient hearing protection over the years but maybe the early days saw a more reckless approach to his art - either that or his sister's drumming!

Here are the lyrics that cause us concern:

Conversations getting dull
There's a constant buzzing in my ears
Sense of humor's void and numb
And I'm bored to tears

Conversations getting dull
There's a constant ringing in my ears
Sense of humor's void and numb
And I'm bored to tears

If Jack had just left the one verse with "ringing in my ears" we'd probably just chalk it down to artistic expresssion. However, the fact the he also mentions "buzzing" suggests that Jack is writing from experience.

Jack, we love your music and we don't want you to lose the music. Please go and have a hearing test or take our online test now. We are here to help. If you are NOT Jack White, but would think your ears have had too much Rock and Roll, you can discover more about Tinnitus here.

Here is Jack and The Ractonteurs performing the track in question at Glastonbury in 2008.
