A taste of the luxury lifestyle with designer fragrances

While most of us cannot afford the celebrity lifestyle and the latest Jimmy Choo shoes or Mulberry handbags we can get a taste of the labels with designer fragrances.

May 23, 2011 - PRLog -- While it’s safe to assume that the majority of us can’t afford Posh’s new Louboutins or the latest must-have Mulberry tote, it doesn’t mean to say that we don’t covet designer goodies. Ok, so we may not live in 20-acre country piles or drive around in Porsches but we wouldn’t mind a slice of the pie. Thankfully, there are plenty of affordable accessories for us to lust after- think sunglasses, shoes and handbags to spruce up our Topshop dresses and French Connection knits. Let’s face it though, they’re still pretty pricey and are usually restricted to Christmas and birthday gifts. That’s why designer perfumes are your best bet.

Take a look at just a couple of our favourite designer scents- both of which have a whopping £10 off the RRP- and inject a little luxury into your life…

Prada eau de parfum 50ml gift set (PPD: £39.50 RRP: £49.50)

Italian uber-brand Prada creates exclusive, super-chic clothing and accessories. It is loved by a finer breed of celebrity, such as Nicole Kidman, Sarah Jessica Parker and- of course- Vicky B, who doesn’t miss a trick when it comes to designer wares. For most of us mere mortals, though, we live in hope of a generous present. However, it’s possible to capture the essence of Prada by wearing the fashion house’s debut fragrance, simply named Prada. As you’d expect, the bottle is a classy affair and the atomizer gives it a vintage feel- it certainly wouldn’t look out of place in a Parisian boudoir. In true Prada style, the scent comprises a collection of expensive and exotic ingredients that focus on the central accord of intense amber. Four main essential oils surround this accord: Indonesian patchouli, French labdanum resin, Indian sandalwood and Siam benzoin.  Prada begins with a fresh citrus burst of bergamot, mandarin and bitter orange that is softened slightly by a sweetly woody Mimosa Absolute note. The first major essential oil to feature is warm and leathery patchouli, joined by a delicate blend of feminine rose and peppery Schinus Molle. The three remaining oils star in the final scenes of the scent- this combination results in an earthy, vanilla infusion that is complemented by the nutty, cinnamon-based note of tonka bean.

Juicy Couture eau de parfum 50ml (PPD: £36.00 RRP: £46.00)

Juicy Couture is a high-end Californian fashion line that is best known for its velour tracksuits, popularised by various celebs such as Madonna, Gwen Stefani and Paris Hilton. These aren’t just any old tracksuits though- at approx. £170 for the most basic design, they’re not for everyone! You’d be wrong if you assumed that Juicy’s main focus is casual wear though, as many pieces are actually very feminine. This is reflected in the classic style of the perfume bottle, adorned with too-cute crown and safety pin charms. What about the fragrance itself? Well, it’s sufficiently girly, with a fruity opening explosion of mandarin, watermelon, and passion fruit, pacified by fresh green apple. At the heart is a more muted accord of wild rose, princess lily and creamy tuberose. For dessert, caramel créme brulèe is served alongside vanilla, precious woods and patchouli.
