New corporate partner for Cornish youth charity

Last week a Cornish charity and outdoor education centre near Penryn has welcomed a new corporate partner.

May 5, 2011 - PRLog -- The BF Adventure team was delighted to receive the generous offer from Truro Tree Services to provide the charity with split wood and chippings as well as free tree surgery services.

Chief Executive, Tony Hogg said: “We are very grateful for the support from Truro Tree Services and are looking forward to a great partnership. Whilst many of our programmes are funded, our ongoing costs to buy material, repair wear and tear and to replace equipment and waterproofs for children are not. We therefore have to rely on support from organisations, companies and individuals to help us sustain our important work.”

Toby Smith, owner of Truro Tree Services had worked as a BFA instructor for many years before opening his tree surgery business in 2009. Although not being able to give his time to the charity any longer, he still wanted to support the organisation.

Toby Smith, said: “I used to be one of the instructors at BF Adventure and know how their programmes make a huge difference in the life of so many young people who otherwise wouldn’t have anyone to help them. I am happy to contribute to such a great cause.”

BF Adventure was founded in 1989 and works with people who are disadvantaged through difficult social circumstances, physical or mental disability or behaviour issues.

Clients live throughout Cornwall but particularly in the county's most deprived areas. They are referred to the charity by statutory and voluntary agencies that identify them as needing additional support to improve their well-being and life chances.

The organisation uses the medium of outdoor activities to provide each customer with a tailor-made programme that addresses behaviour issues and supports confidence building as well as the development of important life skills to help participants to return to school or college, start an apprenticeship or engage in further training.
