5 Guys Burgers and Fries Comes to the Old Port

With the help of Wright-Ryan Construction, the legendary burger franchise opened the doors on its first Maine location in early April, right in the heart of the Old Port.

Earlier this year, the franchise confirmation garnered attention and anticipation, similar to the opening of Trader Joe’s and Wholefoods, among its followers and those eager to try the much talked about burger joint.  The project included a complete interior renovation, in a very short period of time.  It was a challenge building in a busy, downtown area yet Wright-Ryan worked with City officials and tradesmen to get the work done in an impressive amount of time.  The interior was completed in line with the same red and white tiled, industrial and minimalist look to reflect the other franchises throughout the country. The exposed duct work throughout the space is reflective of what 5 Guys Burgers and Fries is all about – the food.

Started in 1986 with one location in Arlington, Virginia the company now includes over 725 locations in 40 states and 4 Canadian provinces. To date their first venture into Maine has proved to be a huge hit.
