May 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Greenville, S.C. [May 2, 2011]: Ten at the Top (TATT) recently unveiled their vision for the Upstate at their event at the Carolina First Center on April 27th. Approximately 500 people attended including several members of the Hispanic community.

TATT’s Our Upstate Vision will serve as a guide in the upcoming years to promote growth and positive change in the Upstate. Five regional drivers that will contribute to the advancement of the vision include:

•   Human Potential
•   Economic & Entrepreneurial Vitality
•   Sustainable Growth
•   Natural Beauty & Resources
•   Community Vibrancy

Antonia Camacho, director of Mommy and Me, attended the event and overall was very impressed at the efforts of TATT on behalf of the Upstate.

“My first impression was I couldn’t believe that an organization as Ten at the Top is looking out for the interest of the whole community by engaging every person to create a strategic plan for the Upstate,” Ms. Camacho said. “I saw a good organization with an excellent vision that is offering multiple workshops so that every person can make a difference. I know Ten at the Top exceeded my expectations.”

The event featured various workshops in which the attendees could participate to further develop and discuss issues facing the Upstate. Ms. Camacho participated in the Community Vibrancy workshop, which discussed the issues of transportation and schools.

“We identified transportation as the main problem affecting the community,” said Ms. Camacho. “Therefore, we created a strategy to tackle the issue. The second area was the schools. We came up with an idea to implement workshops for parents, students and teachers. These workshops will engage the parents to know more about their children’s school and create a initiative for parents and teachers to be more in sync about their kids’ academic future.”

Overall, Ms. Camacho was impressed with the event and especially the effort that TATT is taking to reach out to the Hispanic community.

“For those in the Hispanic community, I want them to break down the barriers and to change their mindset that the Hispanic Community is the forgotten one,” she said. “Because we have an organization as Ten at the Top that is investing in our futures and is interested in our opinion.”
