HOT NEWS: Two Major Santa Rosa Dental Practices to Merge

Dr. Wilson, who is trained in the most advanced dental procedures and techniques and is a leading cosmetic and implant specialist is honored to care for the retiring Etchell’s patients. After 30 years as a celebrated dentist Etchell made the tough decision to retire entrusting the care of his patients to his colleague Dr. Sean Wilson D.D.S. The two practices will merge to Dr. Wilson’s practice at 98 Montgomery Drive in Santa Rosa on May 1, 2011.

Dr. David Etchell will stay on for a period to help facilitate the transition and his staff will continue on permanently. Etchell noted, “It has been a very difficult decision for me…many of my patients are friends that I care for personally and professionally, it was important for me to turn my practice over to an experienced dentist who shares my devotion to the highest quality care. I find this in Dr. Wilson.  His ‘Chair Side’ manner is extremely comforting and calming.  I have known Sean for many, many years in fact, he was my patient years ago and says I am the reason he became a dentist.”

While deciding a career path Wilson recalls how he enjoyed his appointments at Dr. Etchell’s practice.  He found the instruments and procedures fascinating and witnessed how Etchell really enjoyed what he did.  He often spent time at his office watching him work and in fact it was Etchell who ultimately wrote letters of recommendation for Wilson during the dental school application process.

Raised in Sonoma County Wilson attended the SRJC and Sonoma State University. After his undergrad work he went on to study at the number one ranked University of The Pacific Dental School in San Francisco where he earned his degree. The facility is known for producing many of the leaders within the dental profession. Wilson then trained at some the nations most prestigious facilities including the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Learning known for its work with ABC’s “Extreme Makeover” dentists – where Dr. Etchell himself had trained as well. After dental school Wilson was selected from
an elite group of candidates to be an associate partner to high profile celebrity dentist, Dr. Jeff Morley in San Francisco. Morley is the founder of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. It was during his five years with Morley where Wilson developed his passion for cosmetic dentistry and a devotion to bringing cutting-edge techniques and the best possible care to every patient.

After five years of practice in San Francisco in 2003 Wilson returned to the area to re-unite with family and give back to his community by starting a practice in Santa Rosa.  He was recently honored as The Bohemian Magazine’s 2011 Best Esthetic Dentist.  Wilson feels that continuing education is critical in the industry and regularly lectures on the most advanced techniques available today. He consults with the 3M Corporation in the dental products division in the areas of product development and refinement.  His work for the “Santa Rosa Active 2030 Club” has helped to raise funds and awareness for the needs
of Sonoma County Children. He is a member of The American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Redwood Empire Dental Society and The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
