May 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Hardcore Mobb Deep fans may know many of the stories that Prodigy tells in his new tell all book, the truth about Ja Rules robbery or how Biggie was inspired by them to call himself Notorious but what many rap aficionados don't know is that although the book details the beginnings of Queens Hip Hop in the ‘90s we also learn that Prodigy struggled with sickle cell, by dancing the pain away at his grandmother’s dance school as a youth (The book includesa photo Jay-Z placed upon Hot 97’s infamous Summer Jam screen thanks to Ashanti showing Prodigy dancing) Prodigy also discovered  eating healthy made him feel betterbut his ongoing battle self medicating with drugs and alcohol frequently hospitalized him. Currently Prodigy is incarcerated and due to be released in about a year one gets the sense that this book is a turning point in his own evolution and a personal triumph in recognizing his own value beyond the Fame.
