May 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Spooner, WI – Link Ford Minong is bringing Ford Motor Company’s innovative Drive One 4 UR School program to the Spooner community in an effort to raise up to $6,000 for Spooner High School.  For every person who test-drives a Ford vehicle at Spooner High School on May 6, Link Ford Minong and Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to Spooner High School.  Ford will also donate an additional $10 for a second test drive of the all new 2012 Ford Focus, up to an additional $2,000.  The funds will be used to go toward the basketball program.  That is a possible $8,000 at no cost to the test driver or the school.

“We are pleased to invite the community to join all of us at Link Ford Minong, to a day full of fun, enjoyable test drives. We want to encourage everyone to come out to Spooner High School to experience the latest Ford vehicles and help support Spooner High School’s basketball program,” said Tom Brisky, General Manager at Link Ford Minong. The event, which will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., will feature the Ford Explorer, 2012 Focus, Fiesta, Edge, F-150, Mustang and other available models.

Since the start of Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School program in 2007, more than 275,000 test-drives at more than 1,500 events have generated over $5 million in donations for high schools nationwide. Locally, Link Ford Minong has participated in Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School program for a year and raised $6,000 for the Northwood/Solon Football team last fall.

In addition to raising much-needed revenue for high school extracurricular activities, the program gives participants the chance to experience Ford Motor Company’s exciting new vehicles and leading safety technologies, including:

•   MyKey™, a system that allows parents to limit a vehicle’s top speed and audio volume to encourage safe driving behavior in teens;
•   SYNC®, the fully integrated, in-vehicle voice-activated communications and entertainment system, updated with a “Do Not Disturb” button to block incoming calls and text messages and improved text message read-back capabilities so drivers can keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel;
•   Blind Spot Information System (BLIS™) with cross traffic alert, which uses radar to check the blind spot and helps notify the driver of approaching traffic when backing out of a parking spot; and,
•   Active Park Assist, a technology that helps drivers position the vehicle for parallel parking and then steer it into a parking spot without touching the steering wheel.
•   SmartGauge™ with EcoGuide is a unique instrument cluster designed to give hybrid owners a more connected driving experience by coaching them to further maximize the fuel efficiency of their hybrid vehicle.

Awarded 2010 Truck of the Year at the North American International Auto Show, the completely reinvented Ford Explorer combines exceptional handling and towing capability with sleek lines and class-leading fuel economy. With a suite of connectivity and safety features, including MyFord Touch™, terrain management system and the world’s first rear inflatable seatbelt, America’s first SUV remains America’s favorite.

To participate, please visit Spooner High School between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. on May 6. There is no cost to test drive.  Please come help support your school & help earn up to $8,000 for much needed funds.  It will be the easiest money you will ever earn for your school!

Participants must be 18 or older and have a valid driver’s license. There is a limit of one test-drive per household.
