Athletes to come to Eureka for compete for XTERRA titles
XTERRA athletes will vie for triathlon titles in June Event
XTERRA Eureka Springs offers a beautiful venue, challenging course and a production crew that pulls out all the stops, according to race director Shawn Wierick. With over 60 races on the XTERRA America Tour last year, XTERRA Eureka Springs was ranked third overall by racers who participated in a post-race survey, and Wierick said he hopes to see that ranking improve this year.
Racers will pass through the central Transition Area several times throughout the day and there will be live music in the afternoon. There is no charge to watch the race and enjoy the music.
Awards will be given to the top three men and women in every age group, and all athletes who complete the course will be given finisher medals. Tech shirts will be handed out with all packets prior to the race. Participants may register in advance or at packet pickup on June 10, 2-8 p.m., at the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks.
There will also be a five-mile trail run at 8 a.m., before the start of the Off-Road Triathlon.
Wierick noted, “This is a great event for those who want a taste of the off-road experience without the commitment of a full triathlon.”
He said he expects around 200 athletes to compete at EXTERRA Eureka Springs.
