Children to gain from Road Safety Campaign supported by Dubai Police

The three week campaign starting May 4, 2011, will ensure over 5000 school students in Dubai have the opportunity to learn basic road safety rules in a hands-on atmosphere.

May 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Stressing on the importance of road safety Total Marketing Middle East, Tristar and Ciel Marketing & Events with support from Dubai Police will conduct a campaign to raise awareness among children on road safety rules.  This three week campaign starting May 4, 2011, will ensure over 5000 school students in Dubai have the opportunity to learn basic road safety rules in a hands-on atmosphere.

To capture the attention and educate the children in an interesting manner the organizers  of  “My First License - I Know My Road Rules” campaign will set up a mini road network in the school campus with road signs, zebra crossings, a roundabout and traffic signals. Each program will begin with a qualified instructor taking the students through an easy to understand booklet on road safety rules.

Maj. Gen. Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, Director of Gen. Traffic Dept. Dubai, said, “It is important that we begin road safety education at a tender age. Our combined efforts will help these future motorists to be much more aware of the importance of following road rules. The campaign will boost the broader goals we are working towards in making the UAE roads a safer place to be on.”

Every participant will receive a plastic card that will highlight “My First License – I Know My Road Rules” endorsed by the Dubai Police. The colorful cards will carry the name of the child, age and their photograph.  Although it does not permit them to drive, it will be their first licenses that will demonstrate their knowledge and participation in a road safety campaign.

“Encouraging children to be safety-conscious and aware of their responsibilities as pedestrians and vehicle passengers is the essence of this initiative,” said Philippe Cabus, Managing Director, Total Marketing Middle East. “We are committed to the highest levels of safety performance inside and outside the workplace and it is our endeavor to share safety practices especially with children who are a vulnerable segment of road users and future drivers”.

Each child will get the opportunity to drive a pedal car and will use the specially created road network in their respective schools. They will be guided by the instructor on the application of their road safety rules knowledge.
