Wonderland Comics Celebrates 10th Annual “FREE COMIC BOOK DAY” with Wild Party

April 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Putnam, CT – Several thousand comic book stores around the country will be celebrating the 10th annual “Free Comic Book Day” all across the nation on Saturday, May 7th. But none like Wonderland Comics of Putnam, CT.
Wonderland Comics will be giving out over 40 free titles of comic books from the Green Lantern to Star Wars, to Darkwing Duck – the selection is both popular and varied – during this event. In addition to the comic books that they will be giving away, they are throwing a huge costume party with DJ Jeff Gerardi and Noodles the Clown. Wonderland Comics is encouraging people to come in costume for great prizes too – the best ones will get special gift certificates to the store.
Over three million comic books will be given away on Saturday, May 7th throughout the country. The purpose of this national event was to introduce as many people as possible to the wonders of comic books and their stories.
Celebrating its tenth year, “Free Comic Book Day” has proven to be a smashing success, spreading the word that comics are terrific reading. “Even if you have never picked up a comic book, stop into Wonderland Comics because you never know what you will end up finding.” says co-owner, Michele Potter.  
“The wide array of comic books being published today ensures that readers of all ages — children, teens, and adults – can find something appropriate that will stir their imaginations,” said Troy Potter, co-owner. "Comic books are now a major source of entertainment in the movies.  Thor comes out on May 6th and is going to be a huge movie.  You will also see Green Lantern, Captain America, Transformers 3, Conan the Barbarian in theaters soon and Wonder Woman to get her own television show this fall.  We at Wonderland Comics want to spread the word that comics are perfect for today’s times," Potter continued.  “The first weekend of May is going to be a big day in the comic book world.”
