Economic Challenges Drive 'New Faces' To Chester's Forum Shopping Centre

And there was growing evidence that the busy Northgate retail develop is also drawing in more shoppers from across the city with sky high fuel costs deterring many from making trips to the out of town retail parks.

“We are not exactly breaking records with current footfall numbers but there is evidence of a significant change in the profile of the Forum shopper,” added Mr Allen. “The desire to get more bang for your buck is growing right across the board and as a result we are seeing an increase in visits from those who have previously supported the big High Street brand names.

“Not only are we seeing an increase in family shoppers from in and around Chester who have historically been our bread and butter. But we are also seeing shoppers from the more affluent sections of society opting to try out the Forum and its more-for-your-money reputation.

“Of course that reputation is down to the hard work of the retailers within the Forum shopping centre who work extremely hard to ensure our customers get the most competitively priced products available.

“It’s that determination to give shoppers more for their money that will ensure the Forum remains busy whatever the wider economy does. We’re a one stop shopping destination where customers can stock up on groceries, clothing, hardware, gifts in fact almost anything.

“And with our adjoining car park offering motorists free parking after 3 pm, we’re a shopping destination they can’t afford to miss.”

Mr Allen said that the centre’s day time trade had always been busy partly due to its proximity to the employees from shops and offices across the city. And those satisfied customers will have passed on those positive shopping experiences to friends and family.
