Spread Betting News: Standard Life's share price tops FTSE 100 with robust sales reported

Share prices have responded to today's (April 28th) news that Standard Life has enjoyed strong sales.


As of 09:04 BST, the company was at the top of the FTSE 100 leader board after its stock rose by 2.69 per cent on yesterday's close.


The trading success came after Standard Life revealed that for the three months to March 31st 2011, new business sales for long-term savings rose to £5.8 billion, a 25 per cent increase on the same three-month period in 2010.


Net inflows for long-term savings rose by 29 per cent to hit £1.3 billion.


Meanwhile, a 60 per cent surge was noted for wholly-owned international net flows, which reached £449 million.


David Nish, chief executive of Standard Life, said increased profits and asset growth are expected over the coming months.


"Our programme of transformation and investment is on track, building our market-leading investment propositions by deploying best-in-class technology and preparing our business to take full advantage of the fundamental regulatory changes that will take place next year," he added.
